F Amiya Joyner, East Carolina

What East Carolina forward Amiya Joyner brings to the Tigers is something they didn’t have in their arsenal a season ago. The ranging and athletic, 6-2 forward has a unique skill set that is diverse and effective. Joyner can player with both her back to the basket with a solid complement of moves and she is arguably more skilled in facing up her defender and taking them to the basket. She’s experienced, coming to Baton Rouge as a senior, and she’s carried plenty in her collegiate career. Joyner was East Carolina’s leading scorer and rebounder last season, she recorded 15 doubles-doubles as she averaged 15 points and 9.2 boardLSU has a major need at the forward position. Adding Notre Dame sophomore forward Kate Koval is a big step in the right direction for Mulkey and company. Koval started 10 games for the Irish during her freshman campaign while averaging 5.3 points, 4.7 rebound and 1.7 blocks per game. The Tigers heavily recruiting the Ukrainian out of high school last year and now land her one year later.

G Mjracle Sheppard

After just one season, Sheppard’s time at LSU has reached its ending. Sheppard is entering the transfer portal. Her time in Baton Rouge had some high but definitely had some lows as well – it started off low as she suffered a foot injury right before the season tipped off. Sheppard was known for her defense and she flashed her offensive game at times. Sheppard finished with 3.9 points with one steal per game.

 

F Jersey Wolfenbarger

Wolfenbarger’s time with the Tigers comes to an end after one underwhelming season. She was tasked with exclusively playing in the post after transferring to LSU last offseason and her natural position is more on the perimeter. But LSU needed size and she had it at 6-5. Wolfenbarger averaged 4.3 points and 3.4 rebound per game, starting nine games.

 

F Aalyah Del Rosario

The writing was on the wall with this move. Del Rosario was part of Mulkey’s first No. 1 high school class two years and she’s now the third player from that four-player class to transfer out. The 6-5 center struggled to stay healthy during her time with the Tigers and her development was severely hampered. She averaged 3.5 points for her career with LSU.

 

G Last-Tear Poa

Thanks to the Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia court case that regranted student-athletes eligibility from junior college years, guard Last-Tear Poa has one more year of eligibility remaining and she has decided to take it elsewhere. Poa was a defensive stalwart of LSU’s national championship team two seasons ago but could never quite achieve a larger role on the court. Poa averaged 2 points per game this season.

 

F Sa’Myah Smith

A surprise first transfer portal entrance for LSU, Smith just wrapped up arguably playing her best basketball in an LSU uniform in this NCAA Tournament and on Monday, she entered the portal. Smith put up 11 points per game in the postseason while securing two double-doublThe relationship is going great,” Bonner said through a wide smile. “I love C.”

 

That lighthearted moment was just a glimpse of the bond Clark and Bonner are building, despite their contrasting career timelines. Clark, 23, is the future of the Fever. Bonner, 37, is fending off Father Time. Together, they hope to push Indiana into title contention this season as Bonner fully embraces her “mama bear” role, according to coach Stephanie White.

 

“Just the way she talks and she leads, for me as a second-year point guard, I want to win for her,” Clark said Monday. “This is the end of her career. She deserves it.”

 

Clark added that she’s started cozying up to Bonner, whether it’s before, during or after practice, to pick her brain about winning habits. Teammate Kelsey Mitchell has done the same, calling Bonner “the best vet in the world” even though they’ve yet to play a game together.es in that span.s.t.
