He completed 18 of 26 passes for 245 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing 11 times for 43 yards and two touchdowns. The 29-year-old quarterback’s 10-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter regained the Chiefs’ lead, and his efficient drive down the field set up the go-ahead field goal.
With this win, Mahomes notched his 17th playoff victory, surpassing legendary quarterback Joe Montana for second-most playoff wins by a quarterback in NFL playoff history. Mahomes now trails only Tom Brady, who won 35 playoff games during his career. What’s even more remarkable is that Mahomes achieved this milestone before turning 30, while Montana’s final playoff win came at 37, and Brady’s 17th playoff win came at 35.
Mahomes’ historic win sets the stage for the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LVII appearance against the Philadelphia Eagles on February 9. This will be a rematch of Super Bowl LVII, and Mahomes will have the opportunity to win his 18th playoff game and fourth Super Bowl.
