The Georgia Bulldogs ended their four-game losing streak in style, defeating the South Carolina Gamecocks 71-60 on Tuesday night. Asa Newell led the charge with a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Georgia (15-6, 3-5 Southeastern Conference) came out strong, opening the game on a 14-3 run. They never trailed, shooting an impressive 51% (26 of 51) from the field. The Bulldogs’ dominance was evident in the first half, as they took a 35-21 lead into the break. Silas Demary Jr. scored 10 points in the first half, while Newell and Dylan James added eight apiece.
South Carolina (10-11, 0-8) struggled to keep pace, extending their losing streak to eight games. Jamarii Thomas led the Gamecocks with 19 points, but 16 of those came in the second half. Collin Murray-Boyles added 18 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Bulldogs’ strong performance.
Georgia’s victory was also notable for their impressive home record. The Bulldogs are now 12-1 at home, with their only loss coming against top-ranked Auburn on January 18. They have also secured double-digit wins over ranked Kentucky and Oklahoma at home.
Looking ahead, Georgia will face a tough test on Saturday when they travel to play fourth-ranked Alabama. South Carolina, meanwhile, will host No. 13 Texas A&M on Saturday.
