The Boston Bruins didn’t get off to the best start against the Ottawa Senators, trailing 2-0 early on. However, they quickly bounced back, thanks to a power-play goal from Pavel Zacha. The Czech forward took a beautiful pass and slotted it past Ottawa’s rookie goalie, Merilainen, to cut the deficit in half.
David Pastrnak then took center stage, scoring a stunning goal on a transition chance late in the period. The Bruins’ star winger rocketed the puck past Merilainen, and suddenly the game was tied 2-2.
The Bruins carried their momentum into the second period, with Morgan Geekie getting in on the action. Geekie scored on an incredible passing play, with Pastrnak providing the assist. The goal gave the Bruins their first lead of the game, 3-2.
However, the Senators were quick to respond, with Josh Norris scoring on a tip-in to tie the game 3-3. The Bruins’ power play had been clicking, but their penalty kill was struggling to contain the Senators’ attack.
Just when it seemed like the game was heading for a stalemate, Johnny Beecher scored on a long shot, giving the Bruins a 4-3 lead. The goal was a welcome relief for the Bruins, who had been struggling to regain their footing after the Senators’ equalizer.
Despite their best efforts, the Bruins were unable to hold onto their lead, and the game ultimately went to a shootout. Unfortunately for the Bruins, they came up short, falling 6-5 in a thrilling contest.
The loss was a tough pill to swallow for the Bruins, who had fought hard to come back from their early deficit. However, they can take heart from their resilience and determination, and look to bounce back in their next game.
