Despite facing a tough road to the playoffs, Boston Bruins defenseman Nikita Zadorov remains confident in his team’s abilities. “I’m not planning to miss the playoffs. I’m here to play playoff hockey,” Zadorov said after the Bruins’ 3-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche. His determination is echoed by his teammates, who are all focused on making a push for the postseason. 
The Bruins are currently one of seven teams in the Eastern Conference battling for a wildcard spot, with only seven points separating them. The tight race has left some wondering if this season is a lost cause for the team. However, Zadorov and the Bruins are choosing to double down on their efforts. “We know our desperation level has to be higher than all the other teams because of where we are in the standings,” Zadorov said.
The team’s front office is reportedly weighing the option of trading away current players for future assets at the NHL trade deadline on March 7. However, the players remain committed to their goal of making the playoffs. “There’s an endless belief in this room,” said goalie Jeremy Swayman. “No matter what we’ve been through, we’ve always had a belief in each other, knowing that every one of us can step up at different times.”
The Bruins have shown glimpses of their potential, including a recent surge in chemistry between Morgan Geekie and David Pastrnak. The duo has combined for 25 points in their last seven games, giving the team hope for a late-season push. With 12 games remaining before the trade deadline, the Bruins know they need to put themselves in a good position in the standings to get a “green light” from management.
Zadorov’s defiant attitude is infectious, and his teammates are feeding off his energy. “I want to see Boston Garden buzzing in the playoffs,” Zadorov said. “That’s definitely extra motivation for us.” With their sights set on the postseason, the Bruins are ready to put in the work and make a push for the playoffs.
