Arsenal continue to be active in the summer transfer market with just a few days remaining, as they seek to add a forward to their squad. Sporting director Edu Gaspar has already invested nearly £100 million in signings such as David Raya, Riccardo Calafiori, and Mikel Merino, but there could still be another surprise addition on the horizon.
One of the top targets is Nico Williams, though if that pursuit doesn’t materialize, Edu has a number of alternatives to consider, drawing on his experience from previous transfer windows.
For fans eager to see any new signing in action quickly, there’s some good news. In a rare twist for the summer transfer window, the deadline falls this Friday at 11 pm, which is before the final matches of the first round of fixtures leading into September’s international break.
Typically, the transfer deadline closes after the weekend’s games, forcing supporters to wait a fortnight to see new players integrated into the team. However, with Arsenal set to face Brighton in a Saturday lunchtime clash after the deadline day, there is a possibility that a new forward could make their debut.
According to Premier League rules, any club wishing to include a new signing in an upcoming match must register the player by 12 pm on the last working day before the game. This means that if Arsenal completes a deal on deadline day, the player can still be involved—provided they are registered by midday on Friday.
If Arsenal finalize the signing after the midday cut-off but before the transfer window closes, the new player will be ineligible for Saturday’s match against Brighton. As a result, Arsenal will be working within two crucial timeframes as they navigate their late transfer market moves.
The good news is that with Eddie Nketiah’s move to Crystal Palace nearing completion and Mikel Merino already on board, much of Arsenal’s recent efforts have been focused on these deals. While the situations of Aaron Ramsdale and Joan Garcia still need resolution, the signing of a forward remains very much a possibility.
The big question remains: who will Arsenal bring in? Only Edu and the club know the answer, and it will soon be revealed as the transfer window draws to a close.
