The Boston Bruins snapped their two-game losing streak in style, defeating the New York Rangers 6-3 behind a dominant performance from David Pastrnak. The star winger scored a hat trick, including an empty-netter, to lead the Bruins to victory. 
The game was also notable for the return of J.T. Miller to the Rangers lineup, after being acquired in a trade with the Vancouver Canucks on Friday. Miller scored two goals, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Bruins’ potent offense.
The Bruins took an early lead on a power-play goal from Charlie McAvoy, but Miller tied the game midway through the first period. Pastrnak scored his first goal of the game late in the first, and the Bruins never looked back.
In the second period, Charlie Coyle and Pavel Zacha scored to extend the Bruins’ lead to 4-1. Miller scored his second goal of the game early in the third period, but Pastrnak responded with his second goal of the game to put the Bruins up 5-2.
The Rangers pulled within two goals on a tip-in by Jonny Brodzinski, but Pastrnak sealed the win with an empty-net goal to complete his hat trick.
Pastrnak’s linemate, Matt Poitras, had a strong game, assisting on two of Pastrnak’s goals. Poitras has been a pleasant surprise for the Bruins this season, and his chemistry with Pastrnak is growing with each game.
The win was a big one for the Bruins, who had been struggling of late. With the victory, they moved back into second place in the Atlantic Division.
The Rangers, on the other hand, have now lost three straight games. Despite Miller’s strong debut, the team’s defense was unable to contain the Bruins’ high-powered offense.
The two teams will meet again on Wednesday, and it will be interesting to see how the Rangers respond to this tough loss.
