Thuney, who was drafted by the Patriots in 2016, has proven to be a versatile and valuable asset to the Chiefs. He has played multiple positions on the offensive line, including left tackle, where he has helped protect quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ blindside. Belichick, who coached Thuney during his time with the Patriots, praised the player’s ability to adapt and perform at a high level.

Reid echoed Belichick’s sentiments, expressing his appreciation for Thuney’s willingness to play wherever needed. “That kid, we have him out at left tackle now. Bill, you had him as an All-Pro center, All-Pro guard, now he’s out there at left tackle and he doesn’t say a word about it. He doesn’t complain,” Reid said.

Thuney’s experience and skill have been crucial to the Chiefs’ success, particularly in the playoffs. He was part of the offensive line that gave up zero sacks in the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory over the Eagles in 2023. With Thuney’s help, the Chiefs are seeking to become the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls.
